Ahhh

This is one of those weeks I was happy to see come to an end.

It wasn’t exceptionally awful, but I spent it feeling a bit under the weather with a stuffy nose and a scratchy throat.  Not enough to keep you in bed, but enough to stifle the motivation to do a whole lot of anything.  So, I thought it an exceptionally good time to reflect on pulling out the cool stuff that managed to squeak it’s way through the week, and celebrate the bliss list once again.

Liv Lane's Little Bliss List Link Party
  1. Silent Auction Fun

Helped planners get ready for my kid’s silent auction school fundraiser.  It’s one of their events that I actually do look forward to.  It’s fun to amble around and peek at all of the sparkly packages arranged happily to entice you to place a bid.  I like that I’m supporting our school, and at the same time taking advantage of  bids that allow you to support local businesses or engage in something that you wouldn’t normally.  Some cool wins from previous years: an awesome gardening basket filled with tools, seeds and info on getting your fingers dirty!, family excursions to local restaurants, lift tickets and lessons, and my son’s favorite–making sundaes with a beloved teacher. Nice when fundraising doesn’t seem like a have-to chore.

  2. More mom son bonding.  Even though I’m not a huge fan of my hubby traveling, there’s not much I can do about it, and I’m luckier than many others that have to deal with hubbies being away more often than not, especially those amazing people that have partners in the military. I need to count my blessings that travel is generally not that often for him, as I really miss him when he is not around. I have to say the best part about it is having some QT with the boys without the dad around.  More casual dinners. Impromptu chats as we are hanging out. Hogging all their big hugs and squoosh time, and that’s not so bad at all.

Sure fire sign of good pizza, messy hands and face.
  3. It’s always fun kidnapping a bud.  This time I scooped a friend away from cleaning (what is there not to like about that !?!) to whisk her off to Trader Joe’s (funny how often that place makes my bliss list, but I can’t help it, that place always gives me a little lift!).  As if some girl bonding time, flowers for myself and QT weren’t already good enough, the car managed to drive itself up to the local custard stand so that I could score the season’s first chocolate custard with chocolate jimmies.   Um. Yumm.
  4. PIZZA NIGHT!!  Need I say more?  Caved to the kid’s
    P-I-Z-Z-A!!!

request for Friday night pizza .  Not too hard to say no to not planning, prepping or cleaning up a meal, especially at the end of the week.  TGIF!

  5. Nice surprise and end to the week that my dear husband was able to score an earlier flight in from his business trip and arrive early enough so that the kids and I could pick him up instead of  cabbing it after a midnight arrival.  Nothing like welcoming a loved one home from a trip at the airport, even better that we get to enjoy more of the weekend together than planned.  Even though it’s only a short cab ride home, I still get excited being there to pick up someone when they return home.  Just something fun about reunions, especially after what seemed like a long week.

Here’s to chasing away my cold and enjoying the warmer weather this week.  If we’re not going to get to enjoy the winter this year, I might as well spring into the next season and start getting off the sofa and getting outdoors!  Have a great week!
