Top 5 for the Week…
I’ve been happily following along on a weekly blog hop with Liv Lane to inspire folks to reflect on the good things that happened during the week and serve them up to others to spread some joy. This is my third week of participating as it’s too good not to dig into. What’s not to like about finding joy, even when the week’s been kinda so so. I’ve found myself pulled in many directions this week, and was finishing up a home improvement project that left me homebound for what seemed an eternity. Even though it wasn’t a bad week, per se, not being able to venture out much really slashed my motivation to be excited about much of anything. But, upon reflection, there were a few lovely things after all…
- Got to enjoy a great day with my number two and the fam on his birthday.
I always have a little hokey fun decorating the kid’s doors with streamers and a birthday sign after they go to sleep. His special day got me to thinking about how lucky I am that both of my boys are in my life. I love how much they are their own little people even at 10 and 12. Of course its also maddening at times when they are pushing your buttons, but they are quite wonderful indeed. Nice that I got to score a viewing of the latest Mission Impossible as a result. Nothing like a little mindless action and adventure to put you in a good mood.
- Managed to score a trip to Trader Joes. Every time I go into that place, I come out happy. I LOVE that place. What is there not to like about
two buck chuck and $3.99 flower bouquets? Doubly fun that I got to drag my hubby along too, especially when he tossed some Belgian chocolate into my cart!!
- My house seems to be the hub of renovation lately. After 13 odd years of putting improvements on hold to have kiddies, and with the extra incentive of a 2.9% home owner loan, we have finally gotten around to upgrading some things. This week’s project was the kid’s bathroom. One of the sink faucets had been leaking and turned off for an eternity, the vanity finish was wearing and my super budding scientist
managed to somehow leave a really cool blob of superglue on the old vanity. I love the result and most of all, love, love, love having my home to myself and being able to get out and about once again!
-
What a nice surprise when a package arrived from my hubby’s trip to New Orleans. He found some cool paintings and thought it’d be nice to ship some home for use to enjoy. It brought back some nice memories of our trip there together BK (before kiddos!).
- Enjoyed a terrific lunch with my man at a new sushi restaurant in town…the second date this week! Love stealing away some quality time with the hubby–especially nice when you get to start and end the week with some well-deserved QT.
Thanks Liv Lane for inspiring us to dig deep and find some bliss! What little things brought a smile to your lips this week?
GREAT list! So true that we just have to look for the bliss sometimes… it IS there!
Thanks Naomi. I hear ya. It really seemed like I was going through the motions, but when you really look back, there are lots of bright spots even when it’s cloudy. Have a great weekend!
I love your bliss list, Barb! It’s such a wonderful reminder to find the joy in the day to day moments.
I was reading around your blog a bit, and it appears that we are “bordering DC” neighbors! I am on the Maryland side, but have both friends and family in Virginia. Snowmageddon and the earthquake were shared experiences. {Fingers crossed that we avoid similar experiences in 2012!}
Have a wonderful weekend! xoxo, Anita
Thanks Anita! It is a small world isn’t it? It’s nice to find so much commonality between folks. It’s one of the reasons that I enjoy blogging because you know out there at least one person is nodding their head in agreement. Have a great weekend too!
Heh. I was the budding scientist in my family. My poor mom. If it wasn’t one experiment, it was another. Good thing that sort of stuff was encouraged. Not the mess though!
I try really hard not to squoosh his creativity, but it’s hard. Some days I feel like I could get a back hoe and just plow it through his room to clear up all the mess. I love his spunk, but it takes a lot of patience not to poo poo too much once you keep seeing what’s been taken apart 🙂
