This Week’s Mom Council Topic: Stay-cation
Many of our friends chose this week of spring break to take advantage of a family vacation. We are staying in the area, and have been blissfully laying low and basking not having to rush out the door every day. But, I try to spend a day or two exploring somewhere different to take advantage of a full day off with the kids. I know I always found it amazing when I lived in Philadelphia that I never even saw the Liberty Bell until I was a teenager. Even then, it was only piggybacking on a another family’s visit to see it. It’s funny how often we don’t take advantage of all that our area has to offer because we are too busy just living there. So, I thought I’d drum up some ideas by asking for suggestions of favorite places to visit from people that live in the area via the Herndon Patch.

Would love any suggestions that you have, too!
We went to Mt. Vernon the other day and it was really cool. Head out to Bluemont and let the kids play at Great Country farms and then go across the street to Bluemont Vineyards for the great view. Meadowlark Gardens is awesome too. Or the new babies at Frying Pan park…… so much to stay and do!
See! I don’t have any earthly idea where that even is? Guess I have some investigating to do.
we went to see the new babies at Frying Pan Park. Gabriel fell in love with the baby goats!!
Cool. I haven’t been there since the kids were in preschool. Will have to add it to the radar.
