Pearl of Wisdom from My Son
Just thought I’d share a story from one of my kids that brought a smile to my face. My immediate family is near in the Philadelphia area–great for the occasional visit and holidays, but not near enough to take advantage of babysitting requests. I am fortunate enough that I have a wonderful family member in the area who is willing to take my children often to babysit and also for overnight visits as well. My husband’s cousin and her partner have been a wonderful godsend for us in filling our need to maintain regular date nights and quality time with my hubby. Saint that she is, even took them for an entire week so that I could paint my first floor after remodeling my kitchen. It’s wonderful that my kids have a place to escape where they are spoiled rotten, and loved like their own. My wonderful cousin in law does not yet have grandchildren, and she has always loved children, so I believe it is a win win for everyone, as she constantly lets me know that my kids bring her lots of laughter and joy. My kids look forward to every visit, and never blink an eyelash when I say they are packing up to go to Auntie Ann’s.
Recently while my kids were visiting, they were told that they were going to need to visit the local landfill to drop off some large items. My kids were over the moon excited, which puzzled their caregivers, and prompted the question, why are you so excited to go to the trash dump? My youngest son replied enthusiastically, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!”. After giving up these words of wisdom, he also chimed in–while we’re there, can we look around too?
You just gotta love it.
