Oh Happy Day!
Posted On March 2, 2012
I’ve been really out of sorts lately, and have fallen out of my usual routines. I’m not sure why exactly. Wrapped up some volunteer commitments.
Finished up a sports season for my son. Not a bad thing, but trying hard to get back into some regular old vibes again. Resurrecting the good old Top 5 Bliss list seemed like a no brainer to get things back into order once again!
- Beyond tickled that I’m stowing in my hubby’s suitcase on a business trip in the not too distant future. Amen to my dear friend and cousin for being the saintly woman that she is and agreeing to take care of my boys. It brings me a level of giddiness that makes me feel like a kid!
- Have been looking for some loft beds for the kids to grow into for some time. Total score for nabbing two of them on super clearance!
- Was able to join a friend for a spontaneous afternoon of errand running and lunch. You don’t have to ask me twice to shelve hitting my paperwork pile to head out on a springlike afternoon! Sometimes it’s a bad thing that the schedule doesn’t always turned out how you had planned–but in this case, it was a delightful change of pace and reinforces the fact that it’s good for your soul to surround yourself with sisters like this one.
- Flabbergasted that I still managed to wake up at 5:15 this morning to get my son to school in time for his field trip, even though I set my alarm for 5 pm. There are more times than I can count when things happen to save my heinie that have no true explanation. I’m going with having some really awesome guardian angels 🙂
- Feeling happy because I bought my first flip flops for the season. Scored free shipping to boot. Love that they are embellished with a starfish so that they can remind me of the beach every time I look at them. Ah, the simple things…
Here’s to wishing you a blissful week! Would love to hear what rocked your world in a positive way!

Love your take on making lemonade by remembering all the sugar in your life! It’s a good perspective to have…and to be reminded of. I had a day yesterday where some interesting things happened in not one, but two classes, and I spent part of the evening trying to decide if I thought the little-bit-unexpected-out-of-the-ordinary-attention was a good thing or a bad thing. Since it partially depends on the perceptions of others (in this case, the professors of the two classes), it’s not totally within my control, but I decided that, for me, I was going to feel positive and empowered by the experiences, not self-conscious. That’s all I can do, but it helped me wake up ready to take a new day with confidence instead of uncertainty! Keep the faith sister…we inspire those around us whether we know it or not. 🙂
Thanks Brenda. I appreciate your comments. I truly believe that putting the positive spin on things can be enough to turn things around. So many times negative things end up being positive in the long run, but so hard to see when you are in the trenches! Awe inspiring total respect for you to be in those classes for a “round two” in your life to begin with. I’m right there with ya–man, we really must share that glass o’ something sometime! 🙂
Barb, you are amazing… doing SO MUCH!!! Enjoy your weekend and find some more bliss. 🙂 Please do forgive yourself for being “out of sorts” as you say.
Why thanks…I hope to definitely find some more bliss as well as squeeze in some laughter too! Thanks for reminding me that being out of sorts is ok. It makes the times when you are not that much better!
Sounds like a wonderful Bliss List. Loft beds are awesome and on sale even better!!:)
Nothing like finding a good sale, especially if it’s something you know you’ll need to get sooner or later. Here’s to Bliss!
there’s just something about buying summer attire in the middle of winter that makes me giddy too.
Thanks for sharing your list of bliss. I enjoyed reading it.
Doesn’t it? Since we haven’t had much of a winter here, and it is March, I figured, why not? Usually I’m always a season behind because I actually try and find what I’m looking for when they actually are supposed to be in season–and never seem to find what I’m looking for. So ahed of the curve I am!
Stowing away in a suitcase sounds marvelous. I could use a little R&R right now too. Hope you have a great time, wherever that might be.
I know it. I’m really feeling spoiled brattish, and liking it 🙂 Thanks!
that starfish tickles my heart
all the happier:)
thanks for spreading your bliss,
Jen
Starfish just make me happy. But then again, anything that reminds me of the beach makes me happy. Thanks for you comments 🙂
Love your list. Had to laugh at the alarm clock! I’ve done that before but my body just seems to know when I need to get up if it’s important. So thankful for that.
I could scarcely believe it, and man if you could have felt my heart pumping and see me bolt out of my bed! I was definitely disheveled looking mom when I got to school. Nice to see how others can relate to that panic moment!
