Love your comments Mary. So true. It takes such a long time to get used to your spouse, and to have to start all over again? Whew…

But, I totally agree that marriage is hard or it wouldn’t be worthwhile.

Rob and I have always joked to each other Morality issues aside – who has the time and energy to have an affair? Have to learn another person’s quirks, favorite flowers, deal with their moods? Can’t be bothered – learned about my husband and that was enough. Marriage is hard – it takes work but the rewards are amazing. I think a lot folks give up. Of course it helps that Rob and I are committed to the idea of being married. It was never a -well if this doesn’t work out we can get a divorce. We felt it was a life long choice so we better get it right the first time. Do I drive him crazy at times? Of course! But we can’t imagine being with anyone else.

I liked your comment about appreciating a fine specimen of man – we call it admiring a nice piece of meat. I make sure to point them out to him so he can comment as well. And I expect him to do the same!! It makes us laugh. And truthfully appreciate each other a little more. Does love make us blind? maybe – I think we become more beautiful because of the kind of person we are and I am glad I found a man that fell in love with me while I was wearing coveralls, covered in God only knows what, working on a farm. And he loved me despite it. I am a lucky woman.
