Ode to the Ocean
Posted On May 4, 2011
I love the sand between my toes
The smell of ocean through my nose.
Perched upon the sand am I
Watching as the seagulls fly.
Nothing could be finer.
The warmth of the sun fills me to the core
As I lay there basking, I can not ask for more.
Feeling the glorious sand between my feet,
The water ebbing and flowing beneath my seat.
Nothing could be finer.
The gentle breeze makes my hair sway,
The pages of my book are flickering away.
Carefree sounds of laughter and joy,
A child playing with his favorite toy.
Nothing could be finer.
People trekking away from the shore,
Enough for the day, they’ll be back for more.
Beautiful colors streak through the sky,
As I must say my own goodbye.
Nothing could be finer.

LOVE the beach but alas we have not been in years. I need to fix that!! Enjoyed your poem!
Thanks Mary. This teasing of warmer weather has me dreaming of summer and days on the beach. Hope you can get there soon!
